To create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom; Provide active leadership, guidance, supervision, and advisor teamwork in the FFA Program. This teaching assignment also consists of participation and representation at local, county and state fairs/events as well as community involvement through FFA activities.  Extended days contract beyond the base salary schedule includes up to 40 additional days (FFA).

                                                                                       

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  2. Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for individual interests and learning styles of students.
  3. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and be able to communicate these objectives for all lessons using district-approved curriculum.
  4. Use instructional methods and materials consistent with models of the building instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  5. Utilize curriculum to meet established competencies regarding biology, reading, writing, and math requirements as well as OSPI approved Agricultural Science Curriculum Frameworks. 
  6. Effectively utilize district technology appropriate to the position and assume responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
  7. Use effective classroom management techniques by establishing, sharing, and maintaining standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere consistent with building and district policy.
  8. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports and report cards.
  9. Work to help maintain a healthy staff and student culture.
  10. Comply with district rules and regulations.
  11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Skills and Requirements: 

  1. Successful teaching experience at secondary level.
  2. Evidence of strong classroom management skills.
  3. Evidence of strong instructional skills.
  4. Ability to maintain proper attendance by arriving to work on time on a daily basis.
  5. Ability to assess student learning in a variety of ways.
  6. Evidence of leadership, positive human relations and organizational skills

Required Qualifications 

  1. Current Washington State Career and Technical Education Certificate with endorsements in Ag Ed. 
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with potential classes such as Ag Biology, Natural Resources, and Horticulture or a willingness to take training in specific areas if applicant does not have experience these areas. 
  3. Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
  4. I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act

 

Working Enviroment:

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed in some hazardous conditions and in a clean atmosphere.
